Hotels

Overview of hotel area

Ghent has many hotels to choose from. The image below gives an idea on where most of them are located. (click to enlarge)

Below is an google map, showing you the the conference venue, the main railway station, and the conference diner location (in red). Also, the area that is to be considered the inner center of Ghent is marked (in yellow). As indicated above, there are a lot of hotels in Ghent, some of them located near the railway station, most of them in the city center. We have added a couple of hotels on this map (in blue), which we can recommend, but there are many others. We recommend to look in the neighbourhoud of the inner city center for a place to spend the night (it is about 2 km or a 20-25 minutes walk to the Faculty, see map, but there are more hotels and it is a nicer area + conference dinner etc. will be there). There are also hostels and bed and breakfast places.

It is very common in Belgium to have your breakfast at the hotel. You can consider "Korenmarkt" as the heart of the city (a few taxi's there if you prefer not to walk). There is very good public transport, especially the trams/streetcars are handy (more details on tickets later, but you can see their stops on the google map).
